President’s Update

A Personal Note from President Jim Foley

The Fall 2017 semester year brought us unexpected joys.
Back in September, Nikkita, '17 visited us at school. She told us that her college classes felt "easy" after how hard she worked at Cristo Rey Columbus.
In October, Arturo, '17 popped in for a visit while he was home from Brown University. He shared that his favorite class this semester was Economics because "it's really hard so I can feel myself learning."
And in November, one of our teachers stumbled upon Raul, '17 and Miriam,'17 studying together in the library. As Columbus State students, they were helping each other to master the material - just like they did in high school.
Of course, I've known for years that our first class would graduate in 2017. And yet, as I heard our alumni talk about their experiences and their growth, I couldn't help but feel excited and proud about their achievements. Five years ago, our mission was only an idea. Now, it's a proven path.
All of this has been possible because of the support of our Cristo Rey Columbus family. So many people have helped us grow into a school that prepares students to excel in college, in career, and in character. Our Cristo Rey family ensures that future generations of students feel as prepared as Nikkita. That they crave knowledge and challenge like Arturo. That they build community like Raul and Miriam.
For Cristo Rey Columbus, 2017 was a year of joyful surprises. I am eager to see what 2018 has in store for all of our students. I welcome you to learn more about Cristo Rey Columbus and consider becoming part of our amazing family.
With joy and thanks,
Jim Foley, School President
