Students from St. Martin de Porres High School, a Cristo Rey School in Cleveland, OH, spoke of how the Cristo Rey School they attend is changing the path they are taking in their life. De Porres President Richard Clark said we need a Cristo Rey School here in Columbus, challenging the local leaders present to find the employees in their business that could be more effective saying, "you need a Cristo Rey student with that employee at least one day a week". Victoria Deffibaugh-Ziton, New Business Development Manager at United Way of Greater Cleveland, spoke of her team of 14 de Porres Cristo Rey students saying, "they are my sales team". Each of the students work's in Deffibaugh-Ziton's office one day a week making calls soliciting donations for United Way of Greater Cleveland. Deffibaugh-Ziton acclaimed the real-world work skills each student learns: "When these students come to my office, they don't even know which end of the phone to hold. After a couple of weeks, we have them calling the offices of CEOs and CFOs, asking for them by name".
