Founding President Jim Foley Announces Retirement

Oct 1, 2019 | Cougar Chronicles

Dear Friends,

A little over eight years ago I started working to open Cristo Rey Columbus High School. It’s been a wonderful, amazing eight years, but I’ve decided that this will be my last year as President of Cristo Rey Columbus. I will retire next summer. Being President of Cristo Rey Columbus has been the most extraordinary and rewarding experience in my professional life. All the members of our Cristo Rey family have blessed me and made me a better person. I hope in some way I have returned the favor to all of you.

It is extremely difficult to walk away from a vocation I feel called to and very passionate about. That is especially true when our students and our school have achieved great success in the past and are continuing to do so. But knowing there are so many good, strong, dedicated members of this Cristo Rey Columbus family, I am ready to move on to more time with my wife, my children, and my grandchildren. They are the only people capable of pulling me away from the school, the students, the mission and the team that I love.

Our Board has created a search committee and it will conduct a nationwide search for the next President of Cristo Rey Columbus. In the meantime, I look forward to a very active and productive year. I’m not a fan of the lame duck concept. We have started out the school year with a great and positive attitude among students and staff. We have big plans to continue to improve our school this year. I expect nothing less than our best school year ever!

Go Cougars! Viva Cristo Rey!

Jim Foley
President
