Volunteer

Overview

The Cougar Corps is our team of dedicated volunteers who enhance our school spirit. Because of them, we accomplish so much more, and we value their contribution to our school community. From tutoring to staffing events, editing college essays to proctoring entrance exams, volunteers enrich our student experience. All volunteers who have any contact with students must have on file a fingerprint criminal background check and must attend “Protecting God’s Children” no matter how little or how much contact they have with students and no matter what time of the day or night they volunteer.

We’re waiting for you! To join the Cougar Corps, complete these 3 steps:

Step 1: Complete the Cougar Corps Volunteer Application
Step 2: Attend a Protecting God’s Children training session

Registration must be done online at Virtus Online. Follow the links on the left side of the page to begin the registration process or view a list of upcoming sessions. When asked to select your organization, select “Columbus OH (Diocese)”. You can register for any session in the diocese. Upon completion, you will receive a Certificate of Training Attendance.

Step 3: Submit to a Fingerprint Criminal Background Check

These services are provided by FastFingerprints. Please DO NOT have results sent directly to Cristo Rey. Instead, results should be sent to ATTN: Regina Quinn, Diocese of Columbus, 197 E. Gay St, Columbus OH 43215.

If you have lived in Ohio for the past five years or more, you only need to select BCI for your background check. If you have lived in Ohio less than five years, select both BCI and FBI.

Once we’ve received your application, we’ll reach out to schedule a phone call or school visit so you can learn about our volunteer opportunities, ask questions, and identify what most interests you at Cristo Rey Columbus.
